A BIG DECISION

Religion is probably the most pertinent thing that divides our society today. For as long as human beings have been around, there has been religion.

Religion serves to put an end to the pressing questions of the reason for our existence, the creation of the cosmos, and our purpose in life.

Typically religion is peacefully, for the most part. Cults are traditionally violent and abstract in thought. Hence, the cults of the world don't have many followers.

The biggest religions in the world are Christianity (worship of the deity Jesus Christ; practice of prayer and baptism), Islam (worship of the God Allah and Prophet Mohammad; practice of daily prayer), Hinduism (various worship of God and Gods; practice of Yoga), various Folk/Tribal Religions (various worship and practices), Buddhism (worship of the deity Buddha; practice of meditation), Shinto (worship of Spirits; practice of purification), Sikhism (worship of the God Waheguru and various gurus; practices and rituals forbidden by Guru Nanak), and Judiasm (worship of the God YHWH and various prophets; practice of prayer).

All of the largest religions have at least two of the following things in common- the worship of a God or Gods, the practice of prayer or personal awakening, or certain laws and restrictions set in place.

I cannot believe in or follow any of these religions for one reason and one reason only. None of us know God. None of us know what he, if it's a he, looks like. There is no way to call him or talk to him. I have all the reasons in the world to not believe in a God.

The point I am trying to make here is that it is useless to adhere to a religion. It is pointless to believe in the stories of religious text.

The only thing that we know for SURE is there is a you, a me, a planet, a galaxy, and a universe.

Religion simply doesn't matter.

P.S.- While religious beliefs are unimportant, please show courtesy and respect to all adherents of a religion. But only do so if the religion isn't harming people physically or mentally.
